Breakfast
Poached egg with black pepper and paprika on a bed of lettuce; pitta bread on the side
Snack: Apple
Lunch
Tuna salad (sweetcorn, lighter than light mayo, tomato, celery, cucumber, chili flakes). I made 2 portions, so there's more for lunch tomorrow!
Snack: Celery stick with peanut butter. Seriously, why is this so damn tasty?!
Dinner
Hairy Dieter's Cottage pie with gravy; banana and raspberry smoothie
Snack: Glass of semi-skimmed milk, 2 chocolate chip cookies
I didn't realise how low in calories my breakfast was until I totted it all up (170ish, most of that from the pitta bread). Methinks I need something more fuel for the fire in the morning! My biggest meal by far was the cottage pie - I need to bulk out my lunch a bit more and lessen the amount I eat in the evenings.
Zombies, Run! 5k Workout 1
The Zombies, Run! 5k Training program is a lot like the Couch to 5k program I did last year, so this first session wasn't too difficult (I upped my speeds to make things a little more difficult). This app allows you to listen to your own playlists as well as piping in radio announcements to tell you when to run, jog and walk (my favourite line of this first session, "time to run. Pretend there's zombie behind you. Grrrrrr").
I did 33 minutes on a 2.5% incline. My warm up walk was 6kph, my 60 second jogs were 9kph, my 15 second runs were 12kph and my cool down was 7.5kph.
I plan on keeping these as standard speeds throughout the training program to monitor my progress.
What's your biggest meal of the day?

Yes, your breakfast should be more, dinner less. They say dinner should be the smallest, although most people don't eat that way.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to get into the habit of making lunch the biggest meal, so I'm not bogged down with food in the evening. With work and such, it's not a likely prospect (plus I'd feel sleepy in the afternoon!)
DeleteMy biggest meal is definitely dinner too, I'm a nightmare for small breakfasts - must make a better effort this month!
ReplyDeleteYou and me both, Alex :) Bigger breakfasts for Feb :)
DeleteMy dinner is usually the biggest meal, but in the mornings I don't fancy more than a bowl of porridge, and at lunch I don't have time for anything big, plus a big meal at lunch can make me sleepy in the afternoon- not ideal when you are teaching 5 year olds! I do understand the idea behind eating more in the mornings, but I am sure overall it is what you consume over the 24 hours that counts most.
